Altus Regional Engages Students Through the Give Back Programme

Altus Regional Engages Students Through the Give Back ProgrammePRESS RELEASE - Altus Regional Engages Barbados Tertiary Students Through the Government’s Give Back Programme for Digital Mobility Market Validation Project

Bridgetown, Barbados – 16 April 2026

Altus Regional Consulting Solutions is engaging tertiary students through the Government of Barbados’ Give Back Programme. This student pathway supports Altus Regional’s collaboration with Italian technology firm Wego Srl, operator of the Volvero digital mobility platform, and allows students to contribute to applied research and digital innovation activities connected to the project. The Digital Mobility Market Validation Project forms part of the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator, which seeks to strengthen collaboration and support the development of market ready solutions across Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through this involvement, students from tertiary institutions participating in the Give Back Programme will have the opportunity to assist with the market‑validation exercise for Volvero in Barbados, while gaining exposure to an international digital innovation initiative. Tertiary institutions participating in the Give Back Programme include the University of the West Indies, (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, and the Barbados Community College (BCC).

Under the Give Back Programme, student volunteers will support structured activities including surveys, interviews, field observations and data collection tasks. Students will research mobility behaviours, user expectations and the potential adoption of shared vehicle platforms in the Barbadian context. Their participation will provide valuable insights into local mobility behaviours, user expectations and the potential adoption of shared vehicle platforms in Barbados.

“The Give Back Programme allows us to meaningfully involve young people in applied research and digital innovation,” said Natalie Sandiford, Managing Director of Altus Regional. “This Digital Mobility Market Validation Project affords students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in an international project while contributing to a national conversation about the future of mobility and digital innovation.”

Application Process

Students who wish to participate can apply through the Digital Mobility Market Validation Application Form and indicate their availability and areas of interest. Applications are open until 29 May 2026 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with students receiving a response within five to seven days of submission. Selected volunteers will be invited to a short orientation session, where they will be briefed on the validation activities, assigned tasks and expected timelines. Field activities will take place between June and August 2026, with tasks scheduled according to student availability and the needs of the project. At the end of the project, Altus Regional will verify student hours completed and provide the documentation required for submission to the Ministry of Technological and Vocational Training under the Give Back Programme.

Participating in the Give Back Program reflects Altus Regional’s commitment to capacity‑building, youth engagement and responsible innovation as Barbados evaluates new digital mobility possibilities. By involving students directly in the research process, the project helps cultivate practical skills and real‑world exposure to international collaboration. It also reinforces the value of local participation in shaping how new technologies may take root in the Caribbean.

This project reinforces the value of the national Give Back Programme. Organisations across Barbados, regardless of size or sector, can participate by offering structured activities that contribute to student development. Entities interested in supporting this national initiative are encouraged to visit the Give Back Barbados website, register as partners and help expand the range of opportunities available to young people.
