Altus Regional Launches Blue Policy SeriesCaribbean Blue Economy
Altus Regional has recently introduced the innovative Blue Policy Series, a knowledge sharing initiative aimed at enhancing the existing body of knowledge within the comprehensive framework of the Caribbean blue economy.
The Blue Policy Series explores policy gaps, opportunities for legislative harmonisation, and the alignment of Caribbean frameworks with international standards and global policy shifts shaping the blue economy. The series examines how evolving global norms, regulatory expectations, and financing mechanisms intersect with Caribbean realities, capacities, and development priorities.
Blue Policy Series Topics
Through structured analysis and applied perspectives, the Blue Policy Series considers how policy design, implementation challenges, and access to climate and development finance affect the Caribbean’s ability to advance sustainable ocean‑based development.
Some of the topics this series will explore include:
- Climate‑risk disclosure requirements for maritime and coastal assets, including alignment with TCFD and emerging UK and EU standards
- Circular economy policy pathways for zero waste in maritime operations, fisheries, and coastal tourism
- Coastal tourism risk and safety regulation, including licensing, reporting, and insurance requirements
Content related to the Blue Policy Series will be released monthly, featuring articles and multimedia presentations that deliver comprehensive technical analyses and thematic investigations connected to current developments within the Caribbean’s blue economy. This initiative is designed to deepen the understanding of the significant challenges and opportunities present in this vital sector.
As a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training provider, Altus Regional also delivers learning events, including webinars, workshops, and courses. Where appropriate, themes explored under the Blue Policy Series may inform or complement related professional development activities.
By launching the Blue Policy Series, Altus Regional expands its publicly available knowledge content, contributing structured material that supports understanding of the policy environment shaping the Caribbean’s maritime and ocean sectors.
